The splint has to stay on for two weeks before getting a plaster cast.

The first post I wrote in this section was about recovering from a surgery I had on my left foot that left me immobile for several weeks. Unfortunately, I am now experiencing that same recover process on my right foot. This time around is a little easier because I’ve already been through it and know what to expect. That doesn’t make the pain more bearable nor does it make the weeks to come welcome. All together, the recovery will be fifteen weeks and because it’s my right let, no driving the entire time. I’m still trying to wrap my head around that.

Right now, I’m still in the splint because my foot and leg is still prone to swelling. Next Monday I’ll get the cast which is much lighter and easier to maneuver. I’m claustrophobic so having something on my leg that I can’t take off freaks me out but I’m taking it one day at a time.

I have wonderful friends who let me know continuously that I’m not alone. I know that in the weeks to come they’ll pick me up for coffee, dinner and movie nights. Also, my family is coming to me this Thanksgiving and I cannot wait. Having a house full of loved one’s makes everything better.

Support from friendws and loved ones makes all the difference in the world.

The past week has been a lot of sleeping and watching television but in the weeks to come I have a plan. This plan consists of eating healthy, a limited work out schedule, catching up on my reading and plenty of writing. Wish me luck!

I’ll be posting frequently with my frustrations, triumphs and tips for others who are in my predicament so check back often.
